If you want to identify, prevent, or kill weeds in your lawn, you need a place to start. On this page I’ll share the articles and resources I’ve published on this site to help you manage weeds in your lawn with chemical or organic herbicide treatments.
Generally there are two categories of lawn weeds:
In addition, weeds can either be perennial or annual in nature. Perennial weeds will come back year-after-year if allowed to do so, and annual weeds cannot overwinter, but usually return each year because they drop seeds in your lawn.

Beyond hand-pulling weeds (which is effective, but labor-intensive), the best way to eliminate or prevent weeds from growing in your yard is through the use of pre-emergent herbicides (applied early, before weeds emerge to block seeds from germinating) and post-emergent herbicides (applied to kill weeds that are already growing).
